The Old Drumraney Graveyard Project

In 2013 local volunteers from the Drumraney Heritage group undertook the task of restoring the Old Graveyard. Transcripts and images of the gravestones are now available. Please contact us if you would like to contribute content!

Unveiling of the Willie Reynolds Memorial

Willie Reynolds (1916-2003), a native of Walderstown, was a renowned uilleann piper and a founder member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (1951). On 1 August 2022, a monument was unveiled in his honour at his homeplace. The ceremony, which involved a number of speakers and musicians, was part of the official programme of the Fleadh Cheoil.

Welcome to the Drumraney Heritage Society website!

The parish of Drumraney is situated in the barony of Kilkenny West, County Westmeath, in the Irish midlands. The Drumraney Heritage Society was founded in 2013 by a team of local volunteers with shared interests in exploring the past and in pursuing various projects to preserve our heritage and to enhance the local environment.

The efforts of the Drumraney Heritage Society were recognised at Westmeath County Council’s Cathaoirleach Awards in 2014. The Society intends to continue to undertake community-focused projects into the future. New volunteers and suggestions for activities are very much welcome!
